Here are some photos of Panasonic electret microphone capsules. The link is to Panasonic's index of spec sheets (in .pdf format).
This shows a pair of WM-61A capsules (the smaller ones) wired for in-ear
use. This is before a dollop of epoxy was added to each to seal the
backs and add strain relief to the ex-headphone cables, which are routed
around to the front. The bigger pair of capsules are WM-60AY.
In this case you can see the red lead (red == right), but it's awful hard
to see it in a darkened theater, so it's a good idea to put a bit of red
shrink-tube on the right lead, so you can see it easier, and even feel
it in the dark.
Here's a capsule in a soldering clamp after some coax has been soldered onto it -- not a great job. Note that the shield wire goes to the contact that connects to the capsule case.
Here's an experimental capsule holder for testing "pressure zone" effects. It's made out of square brass hobby tube and filled with epoxy. The capsule is a WM-60AY (or is it an AT? Don't let your capsules get mixed up!).
