I was wondering if any of you all have had this problem (yes I searched, so please don't flame me)

When stuck in traffic this morning, after a sudden stop I did not rev the engine enough before letting out the cluch in first gear...Im still getting used to the lag. The engine died, so I put the cluch all the way in and turned the key but nothing happened. There was no starter sounds and no revs. I remember renting a mondeo in the uk and it could only start while in neutral, so i tried that and still nothing happened. Finally I turned the key all the way back to off and then to ignition again and that got it started. This is the second or third time this has happened, both times were in traffic when the engine was good and warm. I'm getting close to 5k mi so I will bring it up to the dealer in a few weeks. I just wanted to see if this is a consistent problem, it is a little annoying when a mile of cars is backing up behind you. Thanks

when i first started driving my car i stalled a good amount the first few days, and it alwasy started without having to "turn it off" so to speak, i would definitely bring it up to the dealer.

This is definitely not a normal issue, and should be brought up with the dealer. It almost sounds as if the clutch position isn't registering with the car. (When you press it in and try and start it).

While you may think the clutch is in all they way it only needs to be out a quarter inch from the floor for the safety switch to trip and not allow the car to start. This is the first manual tranny where I have had trouble with it, even when sitting in the driveway.

Have you tried taking it to a parking lot good and hot and then letting it stall out and then trying to fire in a hurry (ie stuck in traffic) Some time the minor embarrassment of a stall can make you wanna start the car without putting the clutch to the floor. If you have time to think about it you may realize that the clutch wasnt completely depressed!

-I thought about doing that, i just haven't had the time to try it yet. I will advise when i have more info. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem. Thanx all.
