View Full Version : 1990-1994 BG Protege/323 Bodykit Guide *56k DIE!*
I've seen so many "What bodykits can I get for my 1st Gen" threads I decided to compile a guide listing all kits available. I will also include links to the sites that sell them and pictures.
If you have more information on a specific kit I may have left out, other kits I didn't list, links to other pages, or found any errors in the information PM me and I will add it to the thread. I just want to keep the thread as clean as possible and strictly a reference, if you have opinons on the various kit's or bumpers please start a new thread. Thank You, Enjoy!

323 GTR Bumper
This bumper only came on the 323 GTR's as origonal equipment. The bumper has holes to equip it with fog lights as the GTR was designed to be a rally car. The bumper will fit the US protege's or 323's but I believe you can't use the stock crash braces, you can source the JDM rebar but I don't think it's required. (note, removing the bumper reinforcement will result in extensive damage if you are involved in an acccident)
The only online site I know of that sells this bumper is corksport. They offer a fiberglass replica made by Mazstyle or they can source the real deal for you. Only other option is to import the bumper directly from Japan through your friendly JDM parts guru.

The GTR also came with rear and side skirts. The side skirts will fit , but the rear skirts will not fit the protege but they should fit the 323 (modification may be required because the JDM rear bumpers are different than the USDM bumpers as pointed out by TheMAN). Here is a picture of the GTR with rear skirts:

Corksport sells another version of the GTR rear bumper made by Mazstyle. It has the rear skirt integrated into the bumper for a cleaner look.

323 GTX Bumper
The same holds true for the GTX bumper as it does for the GTR bumper. No different rear was offered on the 323 GTX, however the 323 sedan did come with a different rear to allow a space for the lisence plate since a different trunklid garnish was used.
There are several different versions of the GTX bumper, I will list the two most common.
First is the style Darryl has know as the "Interplay" bumper which also came on the Infini/Efini models:

A front lip is made for the GTX bumper by Pakfeifer, it can be found on their website.

Mazstyle EVO 3 Bodykit
The EVO 3 kit is one of the few "full" bodykits offered for the 1st gen protege. The kit is made of fiberglass and consists of a front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper caps. Corksport is the only state-side company that sells the kit to my knowledge.

Pakfeifer Bodykit
The Pakfeifer kit consists of a front bumper, side skirts, and rear skirts. The front bumper and side skirts will fit, but the rear skirts will NOT fit the protege but should fit the 323 (modification may be required because the JDM rear bumpers are different than the USDM bumpers as pointed out by TheMAN). I believe the kit is also made of fiberglass and is only available through Pakeifer. This is the kit made popular by Bizob's car.

Mazstyle Chaos Bodykit
The only true full bodykit available for the 1st gen protege. Consists of a front bumper, skirts, and rear bumper. The kit is made from fiberglass. Corksport has finally started selling this kit.

Topmix Kit
A full kit offered by a company called Topmix. They offer a front bumper, skirts, a rear bumper, and a spoiler. It is only available through their website. (link in first post)

Mazdaspeed Front Bumper
I don't know of any reatailers who offer this kit stateside or online. The only place I know you can get it from is Malaysia (a member on this forum can get it, but I don't recall who).

Escort GT side skirts v2
I finally found a picture of the other style of egt skirts. As you can see from the picture they are shaped differently. The backside has the piece that attaches to the body of the car which would not work on a protege because we have 4 doors. The front part of the skirt is also different. If you look closely you can see that it is capped off, that piece covers part of the fender. I would assume that this style will fit, but will require you to remove the piece at the end. It looks like this style of skirts will fit on the 323 without modification due to the fact that the 323 is also a 2 door. I can't verivy that however.
