Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. I recently bought a new 2006 MazdaSpeed6 GT. I love the car!

I've been doin some research and I found that my car was manufactured before April 06 and never received the reflash to the PCM. I found that there was a lot of concern about this 4-5 months ago but nothing since and I was unable to determine whether or not the flash ended up being a good thing or a bad thing.

I've only the car for little while, but I haven't noticed any problems so far. Though I don't know that I would recognize the problem. I feel hesitation at low rpms but I assume thats the turbo not being spooled up yet.

Anyway, can someone tell me the conclusion to the reflash? Any dynos showing before/after?

Thanks!

I have another question along the same lines...

I test drove a 2007 MS6 before buying my 2006 MS6. Would the 2007's already have the PCM reflash? If so, I was still very impressed with the 2007 which would make me feel a lot better about getting the reflash for my 2006.

Sorry, just a paranoid owner. I don't want to get the reflash and hate it and not be able to revert back.

Thanks everyone!

I just had my 06 MS6 reflashed. Prior to the reflash the power would really come on fast at 3k rpm but would fall off at about 5200 rpm well short of the redline. Since having the reflash the power curve feels much smoother up to the redline.

If you're having an issue with power falling off at about the 5k mark I would recommend the reflash.

I did have it done.

Now the car feels significantly more consistent with its power, however there seems to be some power reduction.

Prior to the reflash, on a scale of 1 - 10, 75% of the time I would get a 10 on the power scale when flooring it, and the rest of the time I would get a 1.
After the reflash, 100% of the time I get a 7 or 8 on the power scale.

So yeah... consistency, but It feels like I just gave up like 20-30hp.

Still very strong in gears 1-3. Gears 4/5 are ehhh... Gear 6 there is no power.
(The above refers to RPM between 3k and 5k)

Overall I like the consistency, but I wish I still had all the power.
